I’ve been playing a few days now…
After trying the most famous ones (jqGrid, Ext Grid) and a couple of less famous ones…
I can say it: “This is the best jquery grid i’ve ever found”.
Obviously i can be wrong depending on what you are looking for…but for most cases, you usually need lightweight grids that looks good and are flexible enough to feet your needs.

This table plug-in transform regular html tables into good-looking ones and you can use it to communicate with live data in XML and JSON format, it has built-in search/filter, sortable options and it looks really clear.
This is the link.

Trying to set up a good debug service for one of my projects i’ve found this good & nice looking debugging “plugin” for php.
It is called dBug and it does a simple task, but in the best way possible…It basically just outputs in a user-friendly way any kind of php variable.
It is quite old (last update was on Dec 04, 2007) but it just…continued to work good, i guess..
The bad-looking table that you see being part of this screenshot is a benchmarking PEAR package that, also, does his job as it should be/look.

apple-logo-broken
During the last month i had a very bad issue with my laptop (MacBook Pro bought in middle 2008)…a weird band (on the bottom of the display) of “seemed to me like burned pixels”.
I thought i’ve to send it to the apple (deciding to work on random computer for months…and paying applecare stuff) UNTIL….I’ve found this !
There i’ve found a do-it-yourself guide to every sort of apple products defects. Yeah!
Never saw this website…i’ve thought could have been good thing to share it :)

Yes…most of the time you can repair your apple computer with your own hands.

It’s a coworking finding service to help you choose the best coworking space.
You’ll be able to insert a location (city or address) and find the closest coworking spaces that fit your needs.
Check the homepage for a better, more graphical, explanation :)

jQuery_toolsThey call themselves “The missing UI library for the Web” and i’m starting to believe in that sentence…
It has pretty much everything that a normal website in 2009 could (sometimes “should”) have in terms of User Interface.

I dint’try it yet, but i’m looking forward to test it.

For now i just share it and link you to the demo page.

This is nothing new, nothing special and neither something.006938-ie7logo
Just frustration that explode and must be outside my mind
to share a thought with the internet world, with a personal hope that one one day
the sentence “ie sucks big time” will be the most popular sentence on the www.

I just passed like 6 hours of my life trying to make 1 horizontal and one vertical <ul><li><a> menus working with ie.
Everything was already working yesterday (xhtml 1.0 and css 2.1 validated)…
but after installing vmware and winXp with ie6 and ie7…pf.
I designed the graphics knowing what i was dealing with…but no way…you can know everything you want in advance.

Internet Explorer will keep making fun of you until, crying, you’ll decide to stop working with internet stuff.

why internet explorer sucks?
who cares, just switch to firefox
or if you still want to use ie*  at least click here.

That’s it, thanks for reading.

*If you are an internet explorer user, switch to firefox, seriously.

Color blindness colors

Today i was looking for inspiration to start creating a new website about Torino and accessibility (with accessibility i mean something REALLY accessible to visually impaired people such as blind, color blind, people with low vision, etc…).

I looked here and there and made a bunch of google search with every possible keyword i had in mind (in ita and eng) without finding anything really interesting and i started to had the feeling of being the only one interested in this, at the moment.

Then, after at least 1 hour, i’ve found 2 nice websites, actually…1 nice article in a website and 1 nice website.
I wanted to share them here, to help spread the idea to, at least, start thinking about accessibility
not just with w3c validators or design rules, but also caring about the users that will actually navigate into a website.

Here the two links: the article and a gallery of accesible websites
